Fire officials are probing the cause of a fire at an Oakville apartment complex.
Oakville Fire and Halton Police were called to a unit on the third floor of a building on Pilgrims Way around midnight.
Police say residents of the unit were able to get out safely but people in adjoining units were treated on scene for minor smoke inhalation.
A cat is believed to have died in the fire.
Fire crews evacuated part of the building because of heavy smoke on the third floor.
Oakville Transit buses arrived to the scene to accommodate the displaced residents.
The cause of the blaze and amount of damage is not known.
