Environment Canada says it was a thunderstorm fueled by muggy weather, that left a path of destruction behind.
Haldimand County Councillor, Bernie Corbett says, Dunnville has experienced damage like this during winter storms in the past,
but to his knowledge – has never been hit by such a powerful summer thunderstorm.
Dunnville was one of several communities in Southern Ontario hit by the storm including Binbrook and South Hamilton.
It was a storm fueled by the heat and humidity bathing the region and much of the province. Delivering driving rains, whipping up the wind and knocking out the power for several hours.
