This weekend, 25 young women from the Halton region are getting the opportunity to explore firefighting as a career path, which is still a male-dominated profession.

Camp Molly is named after Molly Williams, the first female firefighter on record in North America.  It’s open to girls aged 15 to 18 that live in the Halton region. To apply, they had to write an essay on why a career in the fire service might interest them.

The camp is being held at the Oakville fire department training campus and consists of basic firefighting skill practices.
