This was just one of the demonstrations community members got to experience at Halton’s police day a tactical rescue unit executing a high-risk operation. It’s the 20th year Halton has gathered as a community for an activity packed day designed for the whole family.
A strong relationship between law enforcement and the community has helped Halton become one of the safest municipalities in the country 13 straight years. Halton has maintained Canada’s lowest crime severity index for communities with a population over 100,000.
Not only is police day a great chance for the community to continue building relationships with law enforcement, it’s also an opportunity to try on some of the equipment first hand. In Grimsby, locals got up close and personal with the canine and marine units, as well as the motorcycle team.
In Oakville, community members toured the inside of the mobile command unit, the tactical rescue unit and a host of other vehicles including the mini ones found in children’s safety village at the Halton police headquarters.
