They learned vehicle extrication, climbing ladders, checking for hot spots these are just some of the skills 25 women from Halton region are learning over the weekend. The event is called Camp Molly named after Molly Williams, the first female firefighter on record in North America.
These girls aged 15 to 18 will experience basic skills including going into a simulated burning building. The national average of female firefighters is just four percent, departments across our region are working to inspire youth and young adults to consider the profession.
