Shock in a quiet Oakville neighborhood after police say a man was stabbed in his home Saturday night. A half dozen units rushed to the scene after a 911 call came in just after 10:30 at night. Police say they arrived to find a 61 year old man suffering a stab wound from a knife to his torso.
He was taken to hospital where he is in stable condition and a 22 year old man was taken into custody. Witnesses say the suspect is actually the victim’s son, but that detail has not been confirmed by police. An online search of the home’s address shows it belongs to a Michael Downs neighbor’s identify the homeowner as Mike.
Police have not identified any of the people involved but say the two men knew each other. A forensic identification unit has processed the home and police say the investigation has been completed. Lots of questions remain unanswered including the exact relationship between the alleged attacker and the victim, if anyone else was in the home at the time, and who made the 911 call.
The man detained by police will appear in bail court in Milton on Monday and more information is expected to be released.
