Parts of the car, now drifted down to the bottom of the lake. The recovery efforts took hours as officers weren’t able to free the couple from the vehicle until the whole car was lifted out of the lake the next day.
It took the help of dive teams from Peel and Toronto police. The family confirmed that David and Natalie from Burlington had been together for more than 30 years and had a daughter and son.Their youngest is 22-years-old.
Now Halton police are trying to determine what caused their car to drive into the water. A post-mortem is expected to be conducted this week. According to witnesses, there were a couple of fishermen standing by the dock at the time and when the car went into the water they apparently jumped in after it trying to rescue the couple inside.
Halton police want to thank those witnesses who jumped in and tried to rescue the husband and wife inside.
