Amy Smith was counting down the days until she and her best friend were going to Roxodus, a four-day star-studded music festival in Wasaga beach. That is until she found out the concert was canceled.

Smith and her friend are concert enthusiasts, and when the likes of Aerosmith, Leonard Skynard, and Billyidol were announced to the festival’s roster, she was all ready to go. She spent about $500 for three nights at a nearby hotel.

Radio host Alan Cross, he was the festival’s spokesperson from the beginning and was caught off guard by the cancellation, The concert’s organizers, “MF live” are based in Niagara-on-the-lake and their website blames “tremendous rainy weather” to pulling the plug.

The site also says information on refunds is coming. but Smith isn’t feeling confident because the website said “no refunds”, but right under that line it stated “rain or shine”. Alan Cross says Roxodus cancellation is a bad look for all of Ontario and the province’s ability to host big music festivals.

He referenced the Virgin Music Festival which was cancelled in 2010 and Riot Fest which chose to skip its Toronto stop in 2016 in favour of Denver and Chicago.
